The CMA (Content Marketing Association) hosts an awards ceremony once a year, in celebration of their member’s achievements throughout the year.
The 2019 CMA awards were hosted in the iconic Troxy building based in London, a Grade II-listed Art Deco venue originally built as a cinema.
The CMA asked us to design a themed package for the awards including; table plan, e-ticket, table cards, and event brochure. We also asked to create a logo especially for the event, digital judge icons for social media, press wall, and sponsor bar banners.
We began the design process by researching the building where the event was hosted, because of the rich history of the building we wanted to incorporate this into the design. Alongside the client we created a 1920s – 30s cinema inspired design that spanned across all the details within the design, including the use of art deco style borders, typography, and colour palette.
When creating the initial logo for the event, we created a few designs (all very different style to gauge whether to client wanted to lean more traditional or contemporary). With the client, we decided on a combination of gold and black incorporating a swirl element they had used in previous awards to pull the branding together. As mentioned before the event we created an icon for use on social media, that allowed the client to drop in images of their judges for the event and their details, this followed the same design as the event logo.
The brochure created for the event included a plan for the evening, the award nominees, a menu for the evening and the event sponsors. We carried through the art deco cinema theme and also matched the table name cards to the same design. Prior to the event, we were also asked to create an e-ticket for attendees. We again followed the same theme, basing the design on 1920s cinema tickets.
We delivered a cohesive of design work themed around the venue and the client’s requirements. All the work was delivered direct to the client and we communicated with the printer to deliver required print work. The event was a success and as members, we were able to join them and have a great time!
